SEOUL, July 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics will supply the 2014 edition of 3,000 Galaxy Note 10.1 devices preinstalled with the “Knox” mobile security platform to the Credit Finance Association of Korea. This is the first instance in which Samsung introduces Knox in Korea’s financial service industry.

Knox is essential to the association’s security requirements as it has recently transitioned its member information from paper to digital. Knox keeps hardware and apps secure by using TrustZone, a system which includes customer authorization and encryption information. In particular, users can store data and run applications in a separate encrypted space called “Container” so that the instance of personal information breaches can be minimized.

Financial service firms expected Knox to provide keyboard security during banking transactions. They also forecast cost-efficiency gains as they don’t need to invest in additional security solutions.

A Samsung Electronics official said, “Our Knox recently supplied to the Credit Finance Association will play an important role to improve security in mobile transactions. We hope that more B2B operators could adopt Knox-installed Samsung devices in the future.”
