SEOUL, Jul. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — A new online survey has revealed Seoul Bike is the most popular government-operated sharing service among residents of Seoul.

The survey, conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government last month with a sample of 2,500 Seoul residents, showed the satisfaction rate among users was over 91 percent, the municipal government announced on Sunday.

With those in their 20s and 30s accounting for nearly 74 percent of the user base, one of the biggest strengths of Seoul Bike is the service’s tight integration to other means of public transport such as the subway network and buses, allowing for smooth transfers.

While other sharing services from the Seoul government including car and parking space sharing followed Seoul Bike in popularity, the bike rental service was also the most widely known among the public.

However, only 30.8 percent of the respondents surveyed said they had used the service.

When asked about the perks of using sharing services, many cited ‘low cost’ and ‘flexible timetable’, while others called for longer operating hours and more locations.

Later this year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is set to trial a ‘Sharing Village’ that will have on offer all of the sharing services the city provides.

“From our new Sharing Village, to supporting sharing economy companies and organizations, we’ll make sure sharing becomes part of the lives of Seoulites,” a Seoul government official said.
