SEOUL, Oct. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – Seocho District in Seoul is set to showcase the beauty of Yangjaecheon Stream alongside high-quality handicrafts through the Yangjae Art Salon event every weekend this month, as announced by district mayor Jun Sung-soo on October 4.
The event, which will run every Saturday and Sunday in October from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., will take place at the Yangjae Pop-up Zone between the Yeongdong Bridge and the waterfront stage.
The spring edition of the Yangjae Art Salon earlier this year attracted 400,000 visitors, ranking it fifth among Seoul’s festivals.
Each weekend, approximately 60 teams of small business owners, craft artists, and young entrepreneurs will exhibit and sell their handmade crafts and everyday items.
The event aims to blend the charm of the European-style Yangjae Stream commercial district, known for its 140 wine bars, cafes, and restaurants, with the allure of handcrafted goods.
Complementing the main attraction, the event will feature several side activities, including a large art balloon display of Haechi, Seoul’s mascot character, which was highly popular during the spring season.
Visitors can also enjoy an impromptu singing contest, a laser art show, and various food trucks.
Special performances are scheduled throughout the month, with a candlelight concert on October 5, a magic concert on October 12, a documentary film festival on October 19, and an art opera show on October 27.
In addition to the outdoor events, the newly renovated Salon in Yangjae Stream space, located on the first floor of the Yangjae public parking lot, will offer visitors a chance to explore the local lifestyle of the Yangjae Stream commercial district.
This indoor space includes commercial district information, an escape room game based on local stories, and photo booths.
The Yangjae Stream commercial district was the only area in the Gangnam region selected for Seoul’s Local Brand Commercial District Cultivation Project in 2022. As part of this initiative, the district will receive 3 billion won in funding from the city over a three-year period.
Jeon expressed his gratitude to the small business owners and residents for their participation, which he credits for the event’s rapid growth into a representative Seoul festival in just one year.
He also pledged to improve the area further, mentioning plans to create a dedicated market zone along the Yangjaecheon Stream and expand the sidewalks on Yangjaecheon-ro to ensure a comfortable and safe festival environment.
