SHINAN, South Korea, Sept 27 (Korea Bizwire) – The County government of Shinan in South Jeolla Province said on September 27 that an all-natural sea salt maker, Shinan Salt Inc., within its jurisdiction has succeeded in shipping 254.5 tons of high-quality salt to companies in Georgia and California. The remaining shipments of 395.5 tons will be delivered later in several installments. For the export of the premium salt, the company had earned a U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval last year.
Hong Dong-Joon, president of Shinan Salt, said, “This is an important milestone for us not because of the money we will earn from the transaction but for the fact that we could ship our salt to the U.S. market in bags.”

A county government official said that this is a great occasion for all other saltworks within the county as they can increase their exports and create jobs for the residents.
