Ssangyong’s Tivoli Tops Best Vehicle Survey

Seoul, July 20 (Korea Bizwire)Among the domestic cars launched during the first half of the year, the Tivoli from Ssangyong Motor was selected as the best car. Among foreign cars, a new Landrover model was selected.

According to a survey conducted by SK Encar, 42.3 percent of the 345 male and female adult respondents selected the Tivoli, the small SUV released by Ssangyong in January, as the best model.

The ‘All New Carnival‘ from Kia Motors came in second with 31.3 percent of the vote, the ‘All New Tucson‘ from Hyundai Motor ranked third (15.1 percent) followed by the ‘SM5 Nova’ (Renault Samsung, 9.6 percent) and ‘Cruise 2015′ (GM Korea, 1.7 percent).

SUVs were preferred among foreign cars as well. Landrover’s new Discovery Sport gained the most votes (32.5 percent), followed by the ‘New F-Type’ from Jaguar (18.3 percent), Audi’s ‘New A1′ (14.5 percent) and the new ‘Polo’ from Volkswagen (6.7 percent).

Choi Hyun-seok, head of marketing at SK Encar, explains the popularity of SUVs: “Many consumers were interested in SUVs and minivans that were launched in the first half of the year. Targeting the younger consumers, each brand highlighted the practicality of SUVs and minivans, as well as the reasonable price, savvy design and driving efficiency, making consumers realize that they are as good as sedans.”
