SEOUL, March 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Most South Koreans in their teens and 20s prefer looking at each other’s personality test results when making new friends, a survey showed Wednesday.
School uniform maker Hyungji Elite Inc. conducted a survey of 373 elementary, middle and high school students, 74 percent of whom believed personality was the most important factor when making new friends.
Among the respondents, 84 percent said they have a preference for certain MBTI personalities when making friends.
MBTI test, shortened for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, is a self-help assessment test which helps people gain insights about how they work and learn.
Students were particularly interested in making friends with similar personalities.
Half of the respondents with F (feeling) personalities preferred another F personality as a friend. Only 7 percent of them preferred an opposite T (thinking) personality.
The data also showed, however, that 54 percent of the respondents said they do not consider MBTI results when making friends.
A majority of 56 percent said they were satisfied with their current relationships with friends.
Middle school and college students were more stressed out by relationships than by their studies. High school students were more stressed out by their studies, primarily due to college entrance examinations.
