SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Korea Bizwire) – ‘Bulgogi’ and ‘jjimdak’ have been found to be two of the most popular Korean dishes among foreign nationals living in South Korea, according to a new survey.

The survey conducted by food and beverage company CJ CheilJedang on Tuesday revealed that bulgogi is the most popular Korean dish among foreign residents, followed by jjimdak, accounting for 17 percent and 12 percent, respectively, based on the responses of 100 foreign nationals to an online survey.

Other popular dishes included bibimbap, yukgaejang, dakbokeumtang, kimchi and samgyetang, according to the survey.

When asked why, an overwhelming majority of 66 percent said they like taste of the dishes, particularly their ‘spiciness’ and ‘sweetness.’

When it came to the first impression of Korea food, 29 percent said ‘simple’, while 27 percent said ‘tasty’’, with 16 percent branding Korean food as ‘healthy’.

Nearly 75 percent of the respondents said they want to bring Korean food with them when they return to their native countries, with kimchi and gim (dried seaweed) among the most popular items to travel with.
