SEOUL, Nov.11 (Korea Bizwire) – Daum Kakao has announced that it has opened a mobile circulation platform for Jeju tangerines called ‘Kakao Farmer Jeju’.
‘Kakao Farmer Jeju’ was established with the intention to select the best produce and deliver it to consumers when it is in its most delicious state. Since this is a trial service to investigate the possibilities of O2O (Online to Offline) businesses, it will only be offered for three months.
The quality of tangerines that are sold through the platform is strictly controlled by Kakao. Tangerines grown in Seogwipo-si, where there is plenty of sunshine, will reach consumers within three to seven days, when the fruit is the sweetest after harvesting. The tangerines won’t even be processed.
The tangerines can be purchased through Kakao Talk Presents, and the price of a 5kg box of tangerines is 15,000 won (shipping included).
The quantity of tangerines expected to be distributed during the three month test period is 750 tons, which is approximately 0.14 percent of the total amount produced on Jeju Island every year. Kakao plans to use the big data that is generated, such as purchase history or suggestions to friends as an index to analyze the customers.
