DAEJEON, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — Korail is introducing a new car sharing service catering to those traveling on the company’s high-speed KTX trains, beginning Friday at 15 stations including Seoul Station.
Dubbed ‘KTX-Deal Car’, the collaboration between Korail and Hyundai Capital allows Korail passengers to rent a car from the nearest pick-up point, primarily parking lots within the station, in an effort to provide a more comprehensive transportation option.
The hourly car charter service will begin with 15 pick up points exclusive to KTX-Deal Car users including Seoul, Gwangmyeong, Daejeon, Dongdaegu, Pohang, Busan and Mokpo.
Bookings must be made at least two hours in advance, and the cars can be chartered for as short as an hour to a maximum of 30 days.
A variety of vehicles ranging from compact cars and full-sized cars to SUVs can be rented and returned from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the pickup points.
“KTX-Deal Car is a new solution that will meet both the needs of train passengers and drivers. Through the expansion of pickup points, we plan to improve the system for those traveling on business or vacation with Korail,” said Yu Jae-yeong, an official at Korail.
