SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Korea Bizwire) – Lotte Confectionery Co., a major South Korean snacks and ice cream maker, said Thursday it is holding a broad promotional campaign in foreign countries like Kazakhstan, Taiwan, the Philippines and Singapore ahead of Pepero Day.
Pepero, the brand’s longtime best seller, is a thin cookie stick with an outer layer of compound chocolate.
Pepero Day takes place on November 11, as the numbers resemble the long chocolate-covered snack. On this day, people gift Pepero to their lovers and friends and share the sweet treat with one another.
The advertisements will be comprised of three episodes, carrying messages of appreciation for everyday life, the heart of friendship and the joy of families coming together.
The ads will be translated into English and other foreign languages for foreign audiences.
Lotte Confectionery brings in 35 billion won (US$24.5 million)from exports of Pepero every year, with products shipped to some 50 foreign countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, as well as the United States.
