SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Korea Bizwire)U.S. food chain McDonald’s has introduced table service in certain stores where the staff delivers food to the table.

The initiative comes against the tide of kiosks, unmanned services, and app orders sweeping through the food service industry recently, seen as an inverse concept where the staff delivers the food directly to the customer.

The new service is currently being tested at 40 to 50 stores across the country. The food is delivered to the customer’s table after the customer places an order and enters the table number at the kiosk.

“We have come up with a new service to accommodate customers with children or seniors who have a hard time picking up food themselves,” said a source from McDonald’s Korea, the company’s South Korean unit.

The fast food chain began trying out the new service since last year for an unlimited period.

The company intends to continue the service until it receives enough positive customer feedback.
