SEOUL, Aug. 23 (Korea Bizwire)New technology will allow people to simply tap a button on their phones to report an assault or other crimes.

The National Police Agency said Monday it is currently planning a “knock knock campaign,” in which people facing emergency situations can easily contact the police.

The new system will allow people to report a crime to the police even when they are accompanied by the criminal, or don’t know their current location.

After calling 112, tapping a button on the phone as instructed on the phone will send a text message to the caller that includes a link for reporting a crime without having to speak.

To prevent false, unintentional reports, the police verify the caller’s intent to report a crime prior to sending out the link.

The caller can tap on the link to allow the police to gain access to the caller’s phone camera, tracking down the caller’s location and monitoring the surrounding environment.

The police chat room is designed to look just like a Google website, allowing the caller to communicate with the police without the criminal noticing.
