SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — The 2023 Seolipul Festival, the biggest music festival in Seoul’s 25 “gu” districts, is happening for the first time in four years.
The Seolipul Festival 2023, or SRPF 2023 for short. is taking place in Seocho-gu, the area where the Seoul Arts Center is located. t’s going down on September 16 and 17 on Banpo-daero, a well-known spot for classical music.
On the first day, starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, there was a parade with a 50-member wind band from Yumkwang High School. They also had this cool event called the ‘largest sketchbook on earth,’ where they turned a big piece of pavement into a giant drawing paper.
It’s a hit at the festival, and this year, artists will turn the chalk drawings made by visitors into musical art right on the street. The organizers of the event provided over 100,000 colorful chalks for free.
The Seolipul Festival is a famous autumn music festival that people in Seoul really enjoy. From 2015 to 2019, more than 860,000 people came to the festival. But, because of COVID-19, they had to cancel it.
Now it’s back, and they’re calling it “Seocho is the Music.” They’re focusing on bringing people together through music and making it a place where everyone can enjoy different types of music, no matter their background.
The festival will happen in the Banpo-daero area, which is the center of the nation’s only music and culture district. They’re closing off a 1-kilometer section of a big road with 10 lanes so that cars can’t go through. The festival area is about 28,500 square meters in size.
They’ve turned it into a big place for cultural arts, with a 3,000-seat main stage, a 10-meter circular stage near Seocho Station, and three smaller stages. They have a total of 30 programs and over 800 performers lined up. You can expect to hear all kinds of music, from classical to jazz, K-pop to EDM. It’s going to be a blast!
