SEOUL, June 29 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government, along with the King Sejong Institute Foundation, announced that it will provide a free online Korean language education platform, the Seoul City Online King Sejong Institute, for foreigners for six months starting on July 1.

The King Sejong Institute Foundation is a public subsidiary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that provides Korean education in various languages through the Online King Sejong Institute program.

Seoul has been providing Korean education to some 440,000 foreign residents and those wishing to settle in the city at various assistance facilities for foreigners and district family centers.

However, the recent pandemic and working conditions have been preventing an increasing number of foreigners from coming to these facilities, increasing the need for an online education platform.

Foreigners can access the Seoul City Online King Sejong Institute platform to study the Korean language through smartphones or computers at any time, anywhere for free.

The online program consists of Cyber Korean, Korean Language for Foreign Workers and K-wave Korean, and is accessible to all members for free.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the King Sejong Institute Foundation plan to go through a trial period to add new features like online editing and correction programs in the near future.

The city will continue providing Korean language courses at assistance facilities for foreigners.
