AUSTIN, Texas, Sept 18 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung 3.0: Talent, Technology and Timing is the first English book about Samsung published after its rise to the Global Top 10 brands (2012). With stories unknown outside of Korea, cross-cultural expert Eun Y. Kim, Ph.D., tells the success secrets of the “Republic of Samsung” and explains the leadership philosophy, change management, and talent development that accelerated its transformation since 1993. Readers will get to know its charismatic Chairman Kun-Hee Lee who has enabled Samsung’s Cultural Revolution with his 3D thinking and hybrid leadership.
According to the Catfish Story in the book, Samsung must thank Apple, Sony and Intel. The founder, Byung-Chull Lee, experimented with raising fish as a young entrepreneur. He put 1,000 loaches alone into one pond and 1,000 into another with 20 catfishes. After one year, there were 2,000 loaches in the first one, but 4,000 loaches and 200 catfishes in the second where the loaches moved faster to avoid being eaten by catfishes. So the fish got healthier and tastier as a result of adversity and competition. Like father, like son, Mr. Kun-Hee Lee also said, “The stronger the wind, the higher a kite will fly.”
“Like a pathfinder, he could absorb information, sniff the winds and sense what lies ahead,” Walter Isaacson wrote about Steve Jobs. Great men think alike. Reading the times and searching the globe for talent has been Mr. Lee’s obsession as CEO.
In July, the author visited the birthplace of Samsung’s transformation in Germany and saw one clear sign of change in the global economy – Chinese tourists. After the influx of Japanese tourists in the 1990s and the Korean tourists since 2000, the world is ready for Chinese tourists. One thought may keep Mr. Lee awake at night: Which Chinese companies will eclipse Samsung?
This year Samsung celebrates the 20th anniversary of New Management. Koreans believe that “mountains and rivers will change in 10 years.” Dr. Kim presents 9 strategies for Samsung’s renewal.
Samsung 3.0 will forever alter the way you see Samsung. Partners and suppliers will learn how to gain trust and collaborate with Samsung. Competitors will be prepared for a Smartphone/Memory/Appliance War. As Chinese sage Sun-Tzu wrote, “If you know your enemies and yourself, you will win one hundred battles.”
The ebook is available on Amazon through the Kindle reader application for Apple/Android devices and PCs.
