YEONGDONG, March 4 (Korea Bizwire) — A new experience facility for the harvest of bananas and pineapples will be established in Yeongdong, North Chungcheong Province.
The Yeongdong county office said Thursday that it will transform the World Fruit Garden into an experience facility by the end of this year.
The World Fruit Garden lost its value as a tourist attraction last month when the county office opened a ‘Rainbow Botanical Garden’ subtropical greenhouse — the former has the same plants as the ones displayed at the latter.
In addition, since the World Fruit Garden has a vinyl greenhouse-style structure, it’s difficult to cultivate tall plants in the garden. It also has the risk of causing sooty mold diseases due to harmful insects such as the greenhouse whitefly.
The county office plans to formulate a basic plan by this month and plant subtropical plants such as bananas and pineapples between June and October.
The World Fruit Garden’s existing ornamental plants such as bougainvillea and Swiss cheese plants will be kept as an attraction for visitors.
