SEOUL, July 13 (Korea Bizwire) — As the job market continues to deteriorate, both employers and employees were found to have a high level of mistrust in hiring practices, a survey showed Monday.
Recruiting platform Saramin conducted a survey of 1,210 job seekers, 51.6 percent of whom had doubts about the fairness of the hiring process.
As for the reason, 57.5 percent said that employers had ‘failed to disclose information on the number of recruits and standards of assessment,’ while 38.3 percent suspected ‘corruption, such as making special favors.’
In the survey, 43.6 percent said they had been unfairly treated during the employment process.
Among them, 32.8 percent experienced job posts ‘suddenly disappearing,’ while 31.3 percent were asked ‘questions unrelated to the position, such as marital status or academic background’ during interviews.
Employers, too, had their say.
Saramin also conducted a survey of 1,022 employers, in which 35 percent said ‘more applicants have become dishonest,’ with roughly two-thirds claiming that applicants were caught lying during interviews.
Employers considered the applicant to be dishonest when their responses were either lacking (51 percent) or when they gave an exaggerated introduction about their abilities (58.8 percent).
