YONGIN, Aug. 24 (Korea Bizwire) —Everland is excited to announce a captivating contest, inviting participants to name the adorable twin baby pandas born 48 days ago as companions to Fu Bao.
Samsung C&T Resort Division, the operator of Everland, has unveiled an engaging contest that encompasses both online and offline participation. Commencing on August 24, the contest’s purpose is to determine the perfect names for the twin pandas born on July 7. The naming process will unfold in four distinct phases.
Initially, Everland will extend an invitation to the public to propose names for the twin pandas via its official YouTube and Instagram accounts, the “Talking Zoo PPUPPA TV” YouTube channel, and the Naver Zootopia community. Entries can be submitted by commenting on the designated ‘Name Contest Post’ within each community. Entrants are encouraged not only to suggest names but also to provide the meanings behind their proposed names.
Following this, a panel composed of Everland employees, including animal keepers, along with a dedicated naming committee, will meticulously curate ten pairs of names. The selection criteria will take into account the pandas’ unique characteristics, as well as the significance, pronunciation, and originality of the proposed names.
Subsequently, an online voting phase will be hosted on Everland’s official website to narrow down the list of name pairs to a final four. The ultimate name will emerge through the amalgamation of results obtained from both online and offline voting mechanisms.
These include voting on Everland’s website, social media platforms, and on-site voting stations located at the enchanting Panda World within the park. The eagerly anticipated names for the twin panda babies will be unveiled in mid-October, coinciding with their 100th day since birth.
Born to Le Bao and Ai Bao, the nation’s cherished giant panda couple, the twin pandas are both female. At the time of their birth, they weighed 180 grams and 140 grams, respectively. Remarkably, within a mere 48 days, their weight has surged to around 2 kilograms, showcasing growth exceeding tenfold. Recent reports from Everland highlight that the twins are now exhibiting early signs of recognizing their surroundings and displaying slight independent movement as they roll about.
Kang Cheol-won, affectionately known as Fu Bao Grandpa, shared his insights on the twins’ emerging personalities. The elder sibling, distinguished by a V-shaped pattern on its back akin to its father, Le Bao, exudes an energetic and playful demeanor. In contrast, the younger twin, donning a U-shaped pattern akin to its mother, Ai Bao, emanates a gentle and calm disposition.
