SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – The Hyundai Avante of South Korea’s top automaker Hyundai Motor Co. became the world’s fourth best-selling car out of 1,382 vehicle models sold last year, data showed Monday.

According to the data compiled by the Best Selling Cars Blog, the Hyundai Avante, sold as the Hyundai Elantra in some parts of the world, sold 913,200 units in 2015, following the Toyota Corolla with just under 1.5 million units, the Volkswagen Golf with 950,235 units and the Ford F Series pickup with 921,785 units delivered.

Hyundai Motor officials said the carmaker had five other vehicle models ranked in top 50 best-selling cars in 2015, while the company’s smaller affiliate Kia Motors Corp. also had three vehicle models ranked in the top 50.

Together, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors form the world’s fifth-largest automotive group, Hyundai Motor Group. Their nine vehicle models ranked in the top 50 best-selling cars marks the largest number by any single automotive group, according to company officials.

Volkswagen had six vehicles ranked in the top 50 models, while Japanese carmakers Honda and Nissan, and U.S. automaker Ford each had five vehicle models ranked in the top 50, they said.

“Hyundai and Kia again had the largest number of best-selling cars even when the list is expanded to the top 100 as they had 13 vehicle models named among the top 100 best-selling cars in 2015,” a company official said. “This goes to prove that Hyundai and Kia cars are receiving favorable market reviews both at home and abroad for their design, quality and price competitiveness.”
