SEOUL, Feb. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — A new “ride-pooling” service that allows passengers with a similar destination to travel together in large passenger vans was launched by South Korea’s biggest carmaker by sales.
Hyundai Motor Co. on Friday began a pilot of its community-style mobility service “Shucle” in tandem with taxi franchise KST Mobility at Eunpyeong New Town in Seoul.
Shucle is a demand-response service that allows large passenger taxis to operate on an optimal route created in real time when they are called by an app in a service area within a 2-kilometer radius or around a 2-kilometer radius, and passengers are picked up and dropped off at their desired location.
One vehicle can carry up to 10 people in addition to companion animals as well.
When a new call is made, the route will be rearranged so that passengers on similar routes can board together in real time through an artificial intelligence share car algorithm.
When a user enters a destination via the Shucle app, the optimal vehicle is deployed considering real-time demand and traffic conditions. After the call, the app can check the location of the vehicle in real-time and schedule the arrival time.
