The appearance of a genius Go player on the show also boosted sales of Go related items by 75 percent among those in their 40s.

Items related to the 1988 Seoul Olympics have also become popular, as that is when the drama takes place. Sales of commemorative coins and stamps among those in their 40s increased 302 percent. Of note, the sales of stamps soared 900 percent among those in their 40s.

Fashion items which were once popular in the 80s are also making a comeback. The sales of capri jeans increased 13 percent, straight fit jeans increased 35 percent, and baseball bags used by the heroine of the show more than doubled (111 percent).

GMarket officials say that there has been a retro fad every year, but it is noticeable that people in their 40s are in the middle this year. They added that those in their 20s and 30s are buying retro fashion items more, while people in their 40s are reminiscing about the era through purchases of small items such as Rubik’s cubes or stamps.
