SEJONG, Oct. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Once the Olympic Torch is lit in Greece on October 24, the official torch relay will begin, with the flame making its way to South Korea by November 1.
From then onwards, the torch will travel 2,018 km over 101 days, supported by 7,500 different pairs of hands as it tours the country.
The torch will visit Sejong Special Autonomous City on November 12 and 13, where its course will include the Sejong Government Complex, home to the Guinness World Records-designated largest rooftop garden in the world.
Built on a site of 550,000 square meters, the Sejong Government Complex is comprised of 15 different buildings that are interlinked through a complex system of pathways. At its head is a 79,194-square-meter rooftop garden, the size of 11 soccer fields put together.
Fruit trees, herbs and medicinal plants are some of the 1.1 million crops being grown. The garden is open to outside visitors for a limited time from March to July and September to December.
The Olympic Torch will only pass through a small section of the garden.
