SEOUL, March 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Book Repository, South Korea’s first public secondhand bookstore, will perform a variety of commemorative events to celebrate the third anniversary of its opening.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Library, Seoul Book Repository has attracted about 430,000 visitors who bought a total of 333,000 books over the past three years, despite several long closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was created by converting a logistics warehouse in Sincheon Reservoir into a multi-culture space as part of the city government’s urban renewal project.
Visitors can enjoy reading a variety of secondhand books, as well as 3,400 independent publications and 10,000 books donated by celebrities.
During the past three years, a variety of online and offline cultural programs, including lectures, book concerts and exhibitions, were held more than 400 times.
To celebrate its third anniversary, Seoul Book Repository plans to host a variety of events, including a discount sale of secondhand books and a special lecture on humanitarians under the theme of the upcycling of secondhand books.
