Smurfs Appear at the Beach for Environmental Protection

WANDO, Nov. 12 (Korea Bizwire)A Smurf has appeared as an environmental activist at Sinji Myeongsasimni Beach located in the southwestern island of Wando.

“The Smurfs” is an animation series that has aired in South Korea since 1983, gaining massive popularity among children.

Wando County set up a Smurf sculpture to promote the cause of protecting the environment to both children and adults visiting the beach.

The sculpture depicts Brainy Smurf, one of the many characters in “The Smurfs,” carrying a garbage bag instead of a book to join the campaign to protect the environment.
