SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Korea Bizwire)With the COVID-19 pandemic heightening people’s interest in health, confectionery companies are increasingly adopting alternative sweeteners to reduce the sugar level in snacks.

Top local snack manufacturer Lotte Confectinery Co. announced that it will launch the ‘Zero’ project aimed at using alternative sweeteners to produce sugar-free products.

The company implemented numerous tests in various facets ranging from product design to mixture proportioning in order to keep the original taste and flavor of existing products even after using alternative sweeteners.

The products developed under this project will include a phrase saying ‘sugar is out but sweetness remains unchanged.’ In addition, the term ‘zero’ will be uniformly included in product names.

The first products to be released under this project will be ‘Petit Mon Cher Zero Cacao’ and ‘Ghana Zero Ice Bar.’

Lotte Confectionery plans to expand the scope of the Zero project from snacks, including pies, candy, chocolate and biscuits towards ice cream.
