SEOUL, Nov. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — CJ Onstyle, a home shopping unit of South Korean food and entertainment giant CJ Group, announced that it had recently formed a partnership with Google Inc. to start supplying live commerce content on YouTube.
The move is a part of the company’s efforts to expand its viewer base towards the leaders of consumption trends in their 20s and 30s, who are used to YouTube, as well as to strengthen consumer contact points.
Under terms of the partnership, CJ Onstyle will provide more than 100 live commerce broadcasts per month on YouTube by March next year.
While watching YouTube broadcasts, viewers can purchase items instantly through the feeds at the bottom of the video without needing to search for items.
By clicking on the images in the feeds, viewers can be connected instantly to CJ Onstyle’s product pages and check detailed information.
Live commerce, or TV home shopping-style mobile shopping, has emerged as a potential game changer for the retail sector as it could transform the segment on the back of tech-savvy younger consumers who enjoy video-based content on mobile devices.
