SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Korea Bizwire) – According to British magazine Drinks International, Chamisul was the best selling liquor in the world for the 16th straight year. The South Korean drink has held the number one spot since 2001.
Manufacturer Hite Jinro announced on September 26 that it will produce a special poster and ramp up marketing activities to commemorate the achievement.
The poster will be printed in four different languages. Hite Jinro will focus on distributing them to major tourist hubs like Jeju Island and Itaewon.
After being released in 1998, the 10 billionth bottle of Chamisul was sold in 2006. In 6 years, the 20 billionth bottle was sold. As of August, 2017, 27.2 billion bottles have been sold over the product’s lifetime.
Assuming the South Korean population that can legally drink is 41.5 million people, each person would have had to drink 677.4 bottles since 1998. From tip to tip, the line of empty bottles would circle the Earth 146 times.
