SEOUL, June 17 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor Co. announced on Tuesday that it will host the “2020 Longest Run” campaign.

This campaign, one of Hyundai Motor’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, is designed to contribute to creating a better world through afforestation.

After downloading an exclusive app, participants can make a donation for afforestation by running or cycling.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of this campaign. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, this year’s event will be staged in a non-face-to-face format.

A mobile certificate of course completion will be given to those who run or cycle 10 kilometers. They can choose any course and any time during the period between July 3 and 10.

With saplings donated on the basis of the cumulative distances completed by the participants, Hyundai Motor plans to complete the creation of the IONIQ forest within the second landfill site in Incheon’s Cheongna District.

Since 2016, Hyundai has been carrying out the IONIQ Forest project together with Tree Planet and SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management Corp. The project involves planting trees to reduce fine dust at the Incheon metropolitan landfill site.

Those interested can join the campaign by donating 10,000 won (US$8.25) through the “Longest Run” app during the period between June 16 to 29. Free participation is also available.

The participation fee will be donated to make running tracks for children within public facilities. The running tracks will be made by using car seat wastes provided by Hyundai Transys Inc., an auto parts affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group.
