JEJU, March 11 (Korea Bizwire) — The 2021 Jeju Fire Festival will be broadcast online using cutting-edge technology.
Jeju City in the southern resort island of Jeju announced Wednesday that a live broadcast of the festival’s most popular event, the Saebyeol Orum Torching, will take place online.
The Jeju Fire Festival embodies the tradition of Jeju’s old livestock practices where farmers burned old grass and pests in each village to protect their horses and cows.
The torching event will be broadcasted using augmented reality (AR) technology, enabling a livelier experience for viewers.
The Saebyeol Orum Torching will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday. At the site of the ceremony, 400 cars will be allowed to watch the fires from their cars in accordance with current social distancing measures.
