SEOUL, Korea, August 06 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) released the ‘Touch It Paper,’ a graphic guidebook that enables simple communication just by pointing to certain pictograms in emergency situations abroad. This new guide will help Korean tourists abroad communicate with local foreigners in distress.
On the ‘Touch It Paper’ are pictograms in both Korean and foreign languages for 11 different situations and purposes including asking for directions, and looking for pharmacies, a hospital, or a hotel. In particular, the guide has pictograms of specific symptoms such as the cold or stomach ache that allow for immediate communication at local drug stores or doctor’s office. All 251 pictograms in the guide have been redesigned for more convenient uses, and have been drawn on a booklet that fits in pockets for greater portability. Users with the ‘Touch It Paper’ can not only respond calmly under difficult situations, but also prevent accidents in advance by reading safety tips in advance.
The ‘Touch It Paper’ will be offered for free at Korean Air and Asiana Airlines counters at airports and lounges, all Incheon Airport Railroad Express stations, the lobby floor of the KTO main office, and duty free shops at Incheon airport from August 5. Furthermore, users can print just the parts that they need from the KTO website for foreign travel (http://www.smartoutbound.or.kr), and a mobile edition is being prepared for release in September.
