SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Korea Bizwire) — The most popular keywords in the South Korean online shopping market this year are “one day” and “one person.”
Interpark, an online shopping site, said in a recent report that marketing kicked off in Korea’s e-commerce industry this year using so-called “one-day” promotions.
One-day promotions refer to sales events in which products are sold for a limited period of time at high discount rates.
Most of these events are being showcased in the local e-commerce industry, including Interpark’s Day of Life, 11th verse on 11th Street, and Timon’s Time Attack.
Another topic in the e-commerce industry this year was same-day delivery and early-morning or dawn delivery. The online shopping market has also begun to grow rapidly with sellers promising next-day delivery.
According to Statistics Korea, the volume of early-morning delivery orders in South Korea grew from 10 billion won (US$8.40 million) in 2015 to 400 billion won last year.
Furthermore, demand for home meal replacements (HMR) has rapidly increased this year, focusing on single-person households. Interpark’s analysis of HMR sales from January to November showed a 61 percent on-year increase.
