Sinan-gun’s ‘Jaeun-do, the Island of Piano’ Viral Video Strikes a Chord with Over 3.67 Million Views on YouTube

SINAN, Nov. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Sinan-gun, a county in Jeollanam-do that proudly identifies itself as an “island of art” and “island of culture,” announced on Wednesday that its independently produced video titled “Jaeun-do, the Island of Piano” has amassed over 3.67 million views on YouTube.

Situated in the southwesternmost region of South Korea, Sinan-gun is often referred to as the Island of Angels, boasting more than 70 inhabited and 900 uninhabited islands, including notable ones like Hongdo, Jaeundo, and Anjwa Island.

It is affectionately dubbed the ‘Island of 1004′ due to the presence of over 1000 islands, with the number 1004 in Korean sounding similar to the word ‘angel.’

The promotional video for Jaeundo has achieved remarkable success, accumulating over 2.24 million views on Instagram and an additional 1.5 million views on TikTok.

Commissioned by Sinan-gun to promote the 2023 Korean Culture Month, the viral video showcases Jae-eun playing the piano against the picturesque backdrop of a seaside beach. Its popularity remains unwavering, continuously setting new records for views across various social media platforms.

The ‘Korea Culture Month 2023′ event, hosted from October 20 to 22 at the Jaeundo Museum Park, marked a historic occasion as the island held its first-ever culture month event. The event was a resounding success, drawing more than 40,000 visitors over the three-day period.

As part of Sinan-gun’s broader art island initiative, the county is actively promoting the “Jaeun-do, the Island of Piano” project, an integral component of the larger 1 Island, 1 Museum, 1 Theme Garden initiative.

Simultaneously, a contentious solar power project is being advocated near the location of a major tourist complex in Yugak-ri, Jaeun-do, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, sparking strong opposition from local residents.

The controversy stems from the project’s proximity to Sinan’s largest hotel and resort, as well as Baegil Beach. Sinan-gun reports that a 3-megawatt (MW) solar power generation project is currently underway in this particular area of Jaeun-myeon.
